2016 was not my year.  Maybe 2017?  It's taken me a while to figure out how to get back into the blog. Password?  What password?

As you can see, I'm just too lazy to even keep a blog.  If this posts - I've completely forgotten how it works - 2016 may be my year.

40 Acre Rock Heritage Preserve

My son and his family visited this site recently.  It's located in Lancaster County, SC and is well worth the visit.  Plenty of outdoor activity.  While the actual "rock" is about 14 acres, it is impressive!  Unfortunately, you'll see plenty of graffitti along with the boulders, waterfalls and flora.

Nature

I have neglected my blog!  Surprise, surprise.  I spent quite a bit of time trying to get pictures on here.  I hope I have figured it out.  Blogs are much better with pictures.  A beautiful rainbow or a mysterious fog.  There is never a dull nature moment at Lake Wateree.

DH and I have been gathering pine needles from the side of the road for mulch.  Also dug three Eastern Red Cedars to plant in the yard.  We found a small tree that did not look like the others around it.  I sent it to
Dr. John Nelson at the AC Moore Herbarium at USC (the original one) and he identified it as a Red Cedar.  I was surprised because it looked different to me, but not surprised as they are so common around here.  We also planted two Red Buds and a Golden Delicious Apple.  We paid for those.  Oh, we also dug some Yucca from the side of the road and put in an area we hope to naturalize.  We hope we won't be sorry.  OK, time to see if I can post a picture.........

Time on My Hands

I am inspired to do this by another blog I recently visited.  I'm not sure I hadn't been "dissed" by it.  Not personally, but culturally.  I am not interested in setting any records straight about that blog.  It was well written by someone more educated than I.  I mentioned it to my DH and he suggested I start my own.  I'm sure he wasn't serious.  But here it is.  And actually, he's always suggested I keep a journal.  Same thing, isn't it?  I guess I should keep it less personal, or figure out a   "code" so that folks won't know my true feelings/failings.  So (drum roll) - let the games begin!

Oh, just a coincidence, but today is my birthday.
